Report to date regarding Market House Project: March 31st, 2014.
The Dunleer Community Development Board's Market House Campus Project is now almost seven months into it's restoration work.
Since I last reported, significant headway has been made. The weather has improved, so exterior works have been able to proceed well.
Internal plasterwork is now complete. Second fix plumbing and electrical fit out is progressing well, work is ongoing in preparing floor and wall finishes in the Market House.
Selection of appropriate period materials is at an advanced stage. samples for painting, wallpapering and tiling are being assessed on site.
Suitable period method of plaster working of Cornices restoration has been agreed with Conservation Officer and work is underway to bring these remarkable features back to how they looked in the 1830's.
Period lighting fittings are currently being sourced to be as close as possible to the original pieces.
Second fix of safety systems is going to commence in consultation with the conservation officer and architects.
With the Market House 80% completed, planning is already underway to refocus on the Coach House building across the Market Garden. The final fit out materials are being sourced and priced for this, and it is hoped to have this signed off very soon.
With everything a hive of activity on site, and careful consideration of the project, the timeline has moved out slightly to late July for overall completion. We hope to have our Opening Day in either August or early September.
If you would like to secure a space for your group or special event, why not contact the DCDB Admin team, who are open from now to receive expressions of interest.
This is a house which will be a home for everyone in Dunleer, and it is amply suited to cater for a variety of community uses not already with a home in Dunleer.
