|Dunleer Market House|
Dunleer Market House and Gardens is an ongoing project of the Dunleer Community Development Board (DCDB Ltd). The idea has it’s origins in 2009.
This was when the former Roman Catholic Dunleer Parish Parochial House (one-time residence of the Roman Catholic Parish Priest) was being developed by the County Louth Government (Louth County Council) as a Community Library and District Offices for various services provided by the government. However, the development at the time did not proceed.
Disappointed at this lost opportunity for the community, the D.C.D.B. were disappointed to see the Market House being unused, and they resolved that it would one day become the centre of Dunleer town life for everyone.
The D.C.D.B. put together a Business Plan in the aftermath, and formed a subcommittee to drive the project forward. In August 2011, the community based, not for profit company, DCDB Ltd. took charge charge of the House and it's grounds.
In 2013, plans were advanced to commence fundraising, and the planning process was initiated which was eventually a successful project. The Board commenced restoration work in September 2013.
They are currently at an advanced stage of restoration and renovation of the Market House and it's grounds.
If you would like to become part of this exciting community resource, and share the wonderful amenities, why not get in touch with the DCDB?
The DCDB are delighted to announce the Official Opening Day shall be Friday, July 25th, 2014 at 11am.
